Not quite the diplomat

A memoir wittily named as Chris Patten is largely a politician rather than a diplomat of Great Britain. The hardcover is selling at $3xx in PageOne which is definitely too steep a price. I'll wait till it falls below $200, or buy a paperback instead.

The self-proclaimed politician and salesman has been desperately trying to act like one by imitating his pre-1997 boss. So far he is successful being the latter, but not the former. Maybe Lord Patten will share his secret of sucess with the salesman when they meet later this week.

Although most people were attracted by the mini-skirted Laura Patten before they left, the youngest daughter Alice impressed me more with her ingenue smile. Unfortunately none of the Three Graces came with their dad, otherwise I'll certainly risk my life for a chance to meet them!
